Write a Villain With Real Depth

Create a compelling, morally complex villain for a story with the following parameters:

Genre: [e.g. thriller / fantasy / literary fiction / sci-fi]
Story's central conflict: [describe it briefly]
The villain's role: [primary antagonist / hidden manipulator / tragic foil / systemic force]

Build this villain across the following dimensions:

1. Core wound: what happened to them — be specific, not generic
2. Internal logic: what do they believe is true about the world that justifies their actions? (They should be right about something.)
3. Goal: what do they actually want, and why?
4. Method: how do they pursue it — and what lines won't they cross?
5. Relationship to the protagonist: how do they mirror or contrast the hero?
6. A moment of genuine humanity: one scene idea where the reader almost sympathises
7. Fatal flaw: what will ultimately undo them — and should it feel inevitable?

The villain should feel like the hero of their own story. Avoid pure evil with no motivation.
